Thermal transfer ribbons with a wax-based ink layer, for printing on matte and semi-gloss paper, are the most popular and widely used ribbon type due to their properties:
image resistance to sunlight
resistance to temperature fluctuations
affordable price
They are used for product labeling in stores, pharmaceuticals, warehouse management, logistics, and clothing tags. If processes require resistance to mechanical stress or chemicals (detergents, chlorine, gasoline, alcohol), other types of ink ribbon are required: Wax-Resin or Resin.
